[The many meanings of FABRIC] |
Well hello to you. First of all let me thank and congratulate the TriTran team for this great and excellent site for translators and commoners. ------ Well, I was just translating a text from English to Spanish, and I found the word "fabric" being used as a poetic reference of "flag". I found a problem here, since the meaning I know for "fabric" in Spanish it would be "tejido" or "textil"; I feel that using "tejido" or "textil" as a poetic reference of a national flag it would be unpleasant for the reader. Do you know any other meaning for the word "fabric" in Spanish that could refer to "bandera"? If you do, I would thank you if you share it with the comunity. Reply #1 From: MARIVI Date: 20/09/2008-15:48 WELL, IN SPANISH THERE ARE A LOT OF WORDS TO MEANS " BANDERA"FOR EXAMPLE: "ENSEÑA","INSIGNIA","PABELLON","PENDON","DIVISA" ALL OF THEM COULD BE USED AS A POETIC REFERENCE OF FLAG. ALTHOUGH THE WORD "LIENZO" COULD BE USED INSTEAD "TEJIDO", TO MEANS "BANDERA" IN POETRY. FOR EXAMPLE " SAGRADO LIENZO" COULD MEANS "BANDERA" I HOPE U COULD FINISH UR TRANSLATION WITH SUCCESS!
