Hello, everyone. This is sort of an odd request and i haven't been able to find
anyone who could help me out. My grandparents were from Norway and before my
grandmother died, she always called me a name that she said meant "rascal" or
that I was being "naughty" but I have looked these words up and can't find
anything remotely like how she said it. I don't speak Norwegian so it is hard
for me to look it up.

Phonetically, in English, it looks like this "SOONG a NING a"...this probably
doesn't help...but if you know what the word is, please help!

Do you know where in Norway she came from? From your description I can't really
think of anything similar, but in Norway we have a lot of different expressions
for the different dialects.

That your words ends with an "a", might in some dialects be a plural ending, and
in some dialects a feminine ending, which would be my guess in your case.

where I come from "cal" or "kall" as we say it, are an old man. "Ras" however
could be lots of things. In your case I believe it is "mad". Another word would
be "sint" which means "angry"

Its an expression my grandparents called everyone that didnt behave. Hope my
answer helped you to understand it a little more.

Regards
Mito
